Writing Triggers

Hi!

So I decided to revive this blog again and pull myself out of my own self-imposed hiatus to share my thoughts, once again, to you all in the webisphere. I hope that whatever written in this one blog among millions will make a difference in adding something good or whatever to even one person out there.

How to get inspiration to start writing

Well, here it goes:

#WritingTriggers

Have you ever gotten stuck in front of a blank piece of paper or blank word document for an impossible amount of time without being able to write any of the things that you planned on writing before you sat down?

I HAVE.

There are a million and one reasons why this happens (one of the main ones for myself is Facebook) but they really don't matter one way or another. The main detail that we have to keep in mind is how to get started getting back on track.

Some, more organized writers than myself, have a battle plan on how to tackle their writing and stick to certain habits religiously. Writing outlines, planning topics, and these kin of things before they even start jotting down a single letter. For me, I take my writing more organically and rely on whatever inspires me that particular moment.

With that being said...

There are a few thing that I like to do to get into the #WritingGroove of things.

  1. I read quotes from some of my favorite authors and musicians to get my juices flowing about a certain topic that they talk about. And from that, I pick out a specific idea or emotion, sometimes a particular word, and extrapolate from that.
  2. Another is I go and mess around with dictionary.com and look for unfamiliar words at random and pick one that catches my fancy. From that word and it's etymology, i get the gist of the what topic I would be writing about that day.
  3. Another is I try to pick out a moment of the day that stands out to me most and use a big dose of imagination and put it into words that somewhat make sense.

Well that's a few things that I could think about....Until Nextime!
